January 24th, 2007 · No Comments

Brandon Jennings finished with 9 points but it was the last 3 that really counted. Concord was up by 2 points with 8 seconds left and shooting free throws. The 2,000 screaming Concord fans thought they would be witnessing an upset over the 3rd ranked Oak Hill Warriors. But when the front end of a one-and-one rolled off the rim, Jennings ended up with the ball. The Warriors point guard pulled up and swished a 3-pointer game winner with 1 second left to give the Warriors a 71-70 victory.

“We almost didn’t get the rebound,” Oak Hill head coach Steve Smith said. “The ball was tipped around. Fortunately the ball went to Brandon. He’s quick enough to get the ball down the floor.”

Why Brandon Jennings is going to be really good at the next level

January 23rd, 2007 · No Comments

SLAMonline’s Ryan Jones comments about Brandon Jennings after their loss to Simeon:

I loved seeing Jennings crying at the end of the game. Not in a bad way — I just love the competitiveness of this kid who’s still only a junior, getting that upset about losing a regular season game. He took it hard, which is one of many reasons why Brandon’s gonna be really, really good at the next level(s).
